Northern light chase with reindeers in Skibotn

Northern Light Tour at Camp Skibotn offers you possibility to observe Aurora Borealis in beautiful nature with reindeers by the river Skibotnelva

At the camp there is a lavvo (tepee) or small cabin where you can keep yourself warm. There, local host serves you hot drinks and snacks. Thermal overalls can be borrowed if needed. Note that there is toilet facilities as well.

Reindeers nearby delight your evening when you are not busy with the lights.

In Skibotn probability to see the lights is very good due to dry microclimate and large open area towards the north. Here it tends to be less clouds than in surrounding areas, that is why it is chosen as the place for Norwegian Center for Space Weather.

If weather changes at the camp and it seems much better in other areas, we move forward. In that case we would stay along the roads.

Hot meal is available by pre-booking before 16:00 same day: Locally made reindeer soup “Bidos”. Vegetarian, gluten & lactose free alternative is available as well, just let us know when booking.
