During the summer we find our home in the Norwegian High Arctic in Spitsbergen, where we provide daily sightseeing tours in Isfjord. This fjord is one of the largest fjords in the archipelago, rich with scenic landscape: glaciers, characteristic layered and flat-topped mountains, bird life and cultural remains from all of Svalbard’s historic eras.
With our comfortable high-speed vessel MV Aurora Explorer we depart daily from Longyearbyen to Barentsburg and Pyramiden.
From Longyearbyen we follow the coast all the way to Barentsburg, we slow down towards the abandoned Grumant city and the mountain Fuglefjella (translated Bird Mountain) to enjoy the scenic landscape.
In Barentsburg a local guide will take you out for a walk and you will have some free time as well, to explore this coal mining settlement. After 1h 30min, the time will have come for your return back to Longyearbyen. After a 30 min, stop at the main city we follow the coast of majestic Billefjorden towards Pyramiden, one of the 10 best ghost towns in the world according to National Geographic. We explore the abandoned Russian coal mining settlement with a local guide.
We come up-close with the Nordenskiold glacier, where you have the chance to view the enormous blue walls rising up from the sea.
This trip can be enjoyed either from the outer deck or from inside the vessels warm and cosy saloon, surrounded with panoramic windows.
It is strongly advised to dress in warm and windproof clothing. Wind can become stinging cold even in summer.
